We do need some volunteers to start planning from now until the picnic day.
These are our needs:
- Assistant Picnic Coordinator– must have good computer, communication, organizational and writing skills to work with Don on a wide variety of aspects of the picnic. Someone who can devote some time to the picnic and lives relatively close to Long Beach so we could easily work together and with other committee chairpersons.
- Event Set up/Tear Down Chairperson– develop a master set-up plan to include tables, chairs, tents, entertainment stage and various items of equipment and supplies needed to run the picnic. Duties involve researching sources of supplies, pricing, fees and understanding the restrictions or limits regarding the set-up and tear-down functions. Must have availability Friday, August 7 for some set up.
- Sponsors/ Donations Chairperson– developing a strategy to solicit donations, door prizes, Iowa Memorabilia, Silent Auction items and Free Stuff Iowa California. Avoids duplicate solicitations to the same individuals or organizations and develops marketing tools and documents for committee members to send to potential donors with an emphasis on the long history of the Iowa By The Sea Picnic and the culture and beauty of the State of Iowa. Members of this committee must have good communication, writing and organizational skills along with a high standard of ethics.
- Iowa Picnic Merchandize Store Manager– Work with the board to research items and develop a strategy to establish a practical and cost effective array of items for sale. Items would need to have a broad appeal to our constituents.
