Is there such a thing as a good loss? If there is, Iowa was a prime example of that; after coming up short against the 4th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes 34-24. It’s hard to argue that the Hawks didn’t surprise most of the country (including us Hawkeye fans) by hanging in tough against a very talented Buckeye squad late into the 4th quarter. A loss is a loss none the less, which leaves Iowa at 4-3 on the season; needing two more wins to become bowl eligible.
The Hawks are looking to pick up where they left off, returning home to face Northwestern. The Wildcats have owned the Hawks in recent years, but this year injuries have plagued the Northwestern offense.
A Hawkeye win will rest on the shoulders of the coaches to keep the team at the same level of play as last week. The offense showed what it’s capable of, consistency will be the key. The defense has had trouble maintaining mobile quarterbacks, but is still improving. Get the secondary up to speed, and this defense could far exceed expectations.
