Iowa Basketball Gamewatch #2: Iowa vs. Northwestern – Jan. 25, 9:00 AM

Former Iowa Men’s Basketball Head Coach Steve Alford once said “Iowa is not a basketball school.”  Well, the fact is; that it once was.  A legacy that the great Dr. Tom Davis built in the 1980’s, something that Fran McCaffery promised to bring back to Iowa City.

At 15-3, it didn’t take long for McCaffery to make good on that promise.  Now in his fourth season as head coach, the Hawks have made their way into the top 10 this week; an accomplishment Iowa hasn’t seen since 2002.

The road will only get tougher, as the Hawks are no longer seen as the underdogs.  And with the Big 10 stacked with talent, Devyn Marble, Aaron White and Melsahn Basabe will need to stay focused and healthy.  This is one of the deepest benches in America, and Gabriel Olaseni is a true testament to the development this program has now taken.

Iowa will be on the road at Northwestern this Saturday, and we want to see all the LA Hawks out supporting them at 9 AM at Barney’s in Santa Monica.

Join us for our first Iowa Hawkeye Basketball game watch of the 2014 season at the Santa Monica Barney’s Beanery location. Gametime is Saturday January 25th at 9:00 AM.

If you would like to show your LA Hawkeye pride, then don’t forget to order your LA IOWA Club t-shirt. T-shirts are now in stock and available at the Santa Monica Barney’s Beanery location! They can be purchased for $15.

All money from T-shirt purchases go directly to the LA Iowa Club to help pay for costs associated with the Club as well as provide funds to support scholarships and other events.  Without your support, we would not be able to realize these goals.
