LA Hawkeye Basketball Gamewatch #1: Iowa vs. Notre Dame – Dec. 3, 6:15 PM

Fresh off a hard-fought Overtime loss to Villanova at the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas, Iowa re-groups taking on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in Iowa City.

If you haven’t heard by now, Iowa basketball is back!  Coach Fran McCaffery has his Hawks in the top 25, something Iowa hasn’t accomplished since 2006.  The Hawks aren’t flying under the BIG 10 radar this year, boasting one of the nation’s deepest lineups.  Senior Devyn Marble has been key to the 7-1 start to the season, and Iowa will depend on him heavily throughout.  The talent is there for this squad, and the quest for a return to the NCAA tournament continues tomorrow night at Carver Hawkeye Arena.

Join us for our first Iowa Hawkeye Basketball game watch of the season at the Santa Monica Barney’s Beanery location. Gametime is Tuesday December 3, 6:15PM.

If you would like to show your LA Hawkeye pride, then don’t forget to order your LA IOWA Club t-shirt. T-shirts are now in stock and available at the Santa Monica Barney’s Beanery location! They can be purchased for $15.

All money from T-shirt purchases go directly to the LA Iowa Club to help pay for costs associated with the Club as well as provide funds to support scholarships and other events.  Without your support, we would not be able to realize these goals.

LA Hawkeye Gamewatch #12: Iowa vs. Nebraska – Nov. 29, 9:00AM / LA Iowa Club Food Drive Month! FRIDAY GAME!!

At 7-4, the Hawkeyes have already accomplished more this season than most expected.  Iowa has one last chance to improve heading to Lincoln, Nebraska to take on the Huskers.

The series known as The Heroes Game, hasn’t felt like much of a rivalry, with Nebraska claiming both victories; but Iowa is playing with a high level of confidence.

The Hawks are eyeing a New Year’s Day Bowl, so expect this team to play with a renewed energy. Iowa has to let it’s seniors lead like they have all year, and play fundamental football for 60 full minutes.

Please join us at either one of the two official game watch Barney’s locations and enjoy 35% of food and 50% of beverages to any Iowa fan who wears something with Iowa on it (offer valid during the game only).

There will be no more raffles this season

If you would like to show your LA Hawkeye pride, then don’t forget to order your LA IOWA Club t-shirt. T-shirts are now in stock and available at the Santa Monica and Pasadena Barney’s Beanery locations! They can be purchased for $15.

All money from T-shirt and raffle ticket purchases go directly to the LA Iowa Club to help pay for costs associated with the Club as well as provide funds to support scholarships and other events.  Without your support, we would not be able to realize these goals.

LA Hawkeye Gamewatch #11: Iowa vs. Michigan – Nov. 23, 9:00AM / LA Iowa Club Food Drive Month!

Iowa looks to finish the season strong against the University of Michigan.  Saturday’s game will mark the final home contest for 15 seniors. The Hawkeyes have won the last 3-of-4 in the series with Michigan, including the last two in Iowa City.

This game is an important to further cement Iowa’s bowl prospects against a Michigan team that has struggled to find offense during the second half of the season.  The Hawkeye defense will need to be at their best as Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner is explosive and capable of extending plays with his feet.  There’s no better time for the Iowa offense to take a giant step forward.  Hawk fans will be amped already, if Iowa’s able to move the ball down field and score; Kinnick will become electric.

The pressure is building on the Hawkeyes for a return to glory, taking down the Wolverines would surely be a boost to the program; and a great signature win Coach Ferentz needs to quiet those losing patience in Iowa City.

Please join us at either one of the two official game watch Barney’s locations and enjoy 35% of food and 50% of beverages to any Iowa fan who wears something with Iowa on it (offer valid during the game only).

This week’s halftime raffle will be at SANTA MONICA. We will be raffling off a pair of Los Angeles Kings tickets!!  Make sure to check in with one of the hosts for your 1st FREE raffle ticket for some great Iowa gear.  Don’t worry, additional raffle tickets may be purchased at the rate of 2 tickets for $1 on up to as many tickets as you would like!

If you would like to show your LA Hawkeye pride, then don’t forget to order your LA IOWA Club t-shirt. T-shirts are now in stock and available at the Santa Monica Barney’s Beanery location! LA Hawkeye Gamewatch #10: Iowa vs. Purdue – Nov. 9, 9:00AM / LA Iowa Club Food Drive Month!

Iowa looks to rebound from a tough loss last weekend at the hands of Wisconsin with a showdown in West Lafayette, Indiana against the Purdue Boilermakers.  The Hawkeyes come into the game just one win shy of being bowl eligible.

The Hawkeyes look to find more consistency on offense against a Purdue team that is winless in conference play. Purdue offensively has just 7 Redzone touchdowns on the season, ranking them last in the Big Ten. While Iowa boasts one of the best defenses in the conference. However, Iowa should not take Purdue lightly under first year head coach Darrell Hazell, who is searching for his first Big Ten win as a head coach.

Please join us at either one of the two official game watch Barney’s locations and enjoy 35% of food and 50% of beverages to any Iowa fan who wears something with Iowa on it (offer valid during the game only).
